Defense Community Leadership Academy inaugural event
Today, LTG (Ret) Ferriter discussed leadership as a core skill for military families and communities as an instructor at the Defense Community Leadership Academy (DCLA).
The inaugural program is designed to support emerging leaders who are seeking to be more involved in efforts to support service members and their families in a coherent national training program format. The two-day event is presented by the Association of Defense Communities and Blue Star Families in Washington, DC; sponsors include Defense Credit Union Council and Booz Allen Hamilton.
The curriculum includes sessions on needs assessment for communities and installations, the role of military and military family issues in community, building capacity and measuring progress, and more in defining roles for communities. Participants were selected from nominations received in January and notified of acceptance in February. Check in with the DCLA site for more details.
