Tuesday for the Troops with VGA
This week Mike traveled to Augusta, Georgia, in support of the Veteran Golfers Association and their launch of the second full year with a Tuesday for the Troops tournament. Hosted at Jones Creek Golf Club, the purpose of the #TFTT tournament is to thank and celebrate the veteran community – acknowledging all that they’ve done for America and do now as they transition to civilian life and continue to impact their communities.
Learn more about the tournament with this story from Augusta’s WXFG Fox 54. The coverage demonstrates the passion and support of Tuesday for the Troops this week at the start of the Masters Golf Tournament 2016. The video clip showcases participants including Master Sgt. Cedric King and former NBA All Star Theo Ratcliffe, then discusses the goals of Veteran Golfers Association, including creating an annual event.
This year the VGA will run or host or participate in over 100 golf outings where we expect upwards of 10,000 veterans will have the opportunity to participate. This anticipated volume of events will include regional tournaments in which veterans and their families may compete to play in a national championship.
The Tuesday for the Troops tournament offers a perspective in which the Ferriter Group is strongly invested: the VGA is veteran-owned and veteran-run with over 1,000 veteran members. The Veteran Golfers Association serves as a strong example of the many ways to provide sanctuary and community for veterans, while improving organizational structure and operations by hiring veterans. Learn more about the VGA, including how to join or start a new chapter. The Ferriter Group thanks VGA for all they do for Veterans and their families.
